Ella McDonald is a Theatrical Designer based in Los Angeles, CA.
Ella McDonald is a creative theatrical design student focused on creating meaningful stories through all elements of design. While studying theater at California State University, Long Beach, she has worked on nine shows, five of which were in design roles. As a designer, Ella works professionally with directors, actors, crew, and other design team members to lay out a vision from show concept to closing. Most recently, she led the hair and makeup design for California Repertory’s production of “Clyde’s” by Lynn Nottage, where she presented her designs to the team, organized meetings, and supervised a crew that would maintain the original design ideas throughout the show.
Ella is passionate about anything creative. She is a self-taught video editor with Adobe After Effects and Premiere, using her skills for journalism, assignments, and personal projects. She is an artist focused on visual appeal and aesthetics, making it a personal goal that anything she does is a complete and structured concept. She is proficient in administrative duties such as using Excel and Word, formulating professional emails, and responding to questions and requests.
